The youth voice team in partnership with Tak pegeants and Miss Bushbuckridge finalist Akani Mpangane donated clothes, school uniform and school shoes to Malamule cluster centre which is a non -profit organization that feeds orphaned and poor children based In Kildare. The Centre was established in 2009 by a professional nurse Mrs. Sambo who was touched by the living conditions of her patients.

Sambo says after interacting with a number of patients she realized that she had to do something for her community because most of the people who came to the clinic complained of hunger and therefore their health deteriorated.

“Most patients would say they don’t take their medication well because they don’t have food at home and some would complain about lack of money to go to hospital. I ended up giving individuals money and food just so that I could make a difference in their lives” she said.

Sambo further said she opened the Centre with the help of two other women who supported her by taking her to the chief and the tribal authority to inform them on the plan to open a Centre that would assist orphans, young children and vulnerable women.  The Centre currently feeds over a 100 children 3 times a week and it runs from Sambo’s pocket. There are volunteers at the Centre and some community members sometimes donate food parcels and clothes.
