By: Tumelo Lebambo

Eullet Mabunda (28) is a runner from Qrucketlawn who ran his first comrades Marathon two weeks ago in Kwazulu Natal , Durban. Mabunda says he grew up watching the comrades Marathon but never pictured himself entering the race.

" I have been following the comrades for some time now but I never thought I would enter. When i moved to gauteng I became bored of my daily routine so I started running after work just to clear out my mind and before I realised it I was addicted to running and I started running thrice a day. Nathi Ndlovu motivated me to keep on running and when he and some guys went for the comrades last year , I told myself that I would enter this year and I did" said Mabunda.

He added that running keeps one healthy , physically fit and mentally alert. Futhermore he said that he encourages every young person to run because running teaches you discipline and to never give up in life nomater how hard the going gets.

Mabunda finished the race at 10h56min and got a bronze medal. He says he entered the comrades with the aim to test his abilities and he came out victorious after training vigorously for 4months in preparation of the race. His wish is to run ten more comrades Marathons.
